ABSTRACT

In this research work, Statistical Analysis of the Effect of Four
Different Fungicides on the Growth of Beans (Phaseolus vulagaris), we applied the univariate data analysis on the growth characteristics of Phaseolus vulgaris via an untreated check (control) by considering four factors; the Harvest Yield, the Herbage Yield, the Mean Number of Flowers and Mean Height. There were a total of one thousand four hundred seeds, all of which were of the same species and of the same characteristics. Two hundred of these seeds were not treated with any of the fungicides while every other two hundred of the remaining were treated with four fungicides, Chinoin Fundazol, Agrocit, Anthracol and
Difolatan. The experiment was performed using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The analysis was further improved using the Multivariate Analytical Technique. It was concluded that no significant differences exist in the Mean Harvest, Meam Herbage Yield and the Mean Height between the Fungicides treated seeds and that of the Control. ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to investigate the effects of binders (molasses and gum Arabic) on millet husk in the production of briquettes. Fixed quantities of millet husk were used to produce briquettes with varying percentage of binders (10%, 20% and 30%). Low pressure fabricated briquetting machine was used for compression to produce the briquettes, after sun drying to reduce the moisture content to minimum value. The
proximate analysis conducted, indicated the range of moisture content% (2.1-3.0) ash content% (7.8-11.4) volatile matter% (61.9-76.6) and fixed carbon% (13.0-26.5). The physical properties had the values ranging from (0.52-0.60), (0.18-0.24) (1.69-1.80), (2.31-3.14), (3.5-23.2), (4.7-30.2) for compressed density (g/cm3), relaxed density (g/cm3), compaction ratio, relaxation ratio, durability (%) and water resistant (sec) respectively. The
fuel density included ignition time (sec), after glow (sec), boiling time (mins) and calorific value (KJ/kg) with the value ranging from (2.3-8.3), (2.0-24.4), (16.10-19.13) and (29830.95-30119.84) respectively. ABSTRACT

The primitive methods used by the small scale farmers for planting grain crops constitute a major problem for enhancing higher productivity and yield of crops as this methods of seed planting results in low seed placement, at irregular depth and irregular plant to plant and row to row spacing. In order to increase the productivity of the peasant farmers a single –row crop planter for small scale farmer was developed and evaluated. The major components of the planter are hopper, the meterins
unit, the drive mechanism, furrow opener, seed delivery tube, adjustable handle and furrow covering device. Field test was performed to determine the planting efficiency and field efficiency. The evaluation test showed that the planter has planting efficiency of 68%, 81% and 76% and field efficiency of 71%, 83% and 74% at operating speed of 1.8km/hr, 1.2km/hr and 0.9km/hr respectively. The conclusions drawn from the performance
evaluation of the planter revealed that the planter had best performance at operating speed of 1.2km/hr, followed by performance at operating speed of 0.9km/hr and minimum performance at operating speed of 1.8km/hr and above.

ABSTRACT

The contributions of Agricultural and Manufacturing Sectors to Economic Growth cannot be overemphasized. This study examined the effect of agricultural and manufacturing productivity on economic growth in Nigeria using data for the period 1980 to 2020. The tests for time series properties of the variables was carried out by Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test which suggested that the variables are integrated of order 1. Hence, the error correction model was used to estimate the short run coefficients of the model. The co-integration test indicated the presence of a long run relationship among the variables. The results reveal that
agricultural output has a positive and significant effect on economic
growth both in the short run and in the long run while manufacturing output only has a positive relationship with economic growth in the short run. In the long run, the relationship is negative but insignificant. The study suggested that investment in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors should be promoted to stimulate economic growth. Also, a stable exchange rate system should be encouraged and maintained to boost economic growth.
